Celebrate 75 years of the Royal New Zealand Navy with a special exhibition brought to you by the Navy Museum.
On 1 October 1941, an order of council created the Royal New Zealand Navy from what was previously the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.
Take a journey into the last 75 years of our Navy’s history, from its role in building foreign relations to the role of a peacetime Navy; from advancements in technology to changes in personnel; from tales about training to stories of life on board ship.
Explore how the New Zealand Navy came to be what it is today and how, in turn, the Navy has contributed to our nation’s identity.
Experience how memories can be held in objects, some which are obviously naval, some which may surprise you.
October 2016 through February 2017
Exhibition catalogue available at the Navy Museum Shop or online here.
