One of our learners practises using a sextant in the Navigators programme

Welcome to the education pages at Torpedo Bay Navy Museum.  We believe learning happens at all ages and in a variety of ways.  We aim to be both a collaborator and dynamic resource for your students’ learning.

At the Navy Museum we have programmes that look at important aspects of naval practices, naval history and New Zealand’s social history, with each programme taking a cross-curricular approach to learning.  Our programmes are fun, hands-on minds-on, authentic and help children develop the skills they need to continue their journeys as active lifelong learners.  We have education programmes for school groups of all ages and year levels.

“I was very impressed with the lesson for my students.  It had an excellent balance of hands on experiences and teacher talk.  It perfectly suited the intention of our visit.” – Teacher, Northcross Intermediate School
