Commander Brett Fotheringham is a long-serving Navy Officer who was awarded a medal by the Cambodian Government as part of a Royal New Zealand Navy team sent there to assist in mine clearance operations. He has also been elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society for work he did in sub-Antarctic waters in restoring Second World War era coast watcher huts in the island groups in the area.
