COVID-19 UPDATE

The Navy Museum is open at Traffic Light Orange.

Our opening hours are Monday to Sunday 10am to 5pm.

Torpedo Bay Café’s opening hours are 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 9am – 5pm at weekends.

We are delighted to welcome visitors to the Navy Museum. To keep you, our visitors, and our staff safe, and ensure you have an enjoyable experience at the museum, we are following government regulations, New Zealand Defence Force guidance and museum protocols.

We ask that all visitors are well when they visit the museum. If you are feeling unwell, please reschedule your visit.

Following guidance from the New Zealand Defence Force, to enter the museum we are also asking all visitors to please wear a face covering and where possible, keep 1 metre from others whilst in the museum.

During your visit, please be respectful to our staff and other people inside the museum and follow our conditions of entry.

What are the additional COVID-19 conditions of entry?

At the Navy Museum, the health and safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority. To keep everyone safe, we are asking all visitors to follow these conditions of entry during Alert Level Orange:

Face Masks

All visitors and staff are required to wear a face covering whilst inside the Navy Museum.

Sanitise Hands

Please sanitise your hands on arrival at the sanitiser station located at our entrance or use one of the other hand sanitisers inside the museum.

Maintain Physical Distancing

Where possible please stay one metre apart from other visitors, museum staff and everyone except for the people in your group.

Stay Home

If you are feeling unwell, have visited a place of interest, are waiting on test results, are a close contact of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 please stay at home and call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Respectful Behaviour

Be respectful to our staff and other people inside the museum and follow our conditions of entry.

Will I need to wear a mask in the museum?

Yes, all visitors and staff are required to wear a face covering while at the Navy Museum.

Where can I find hand sanitiser?

You can sanitise your hands at the entrance to the museum or at one of the four other sanitiser stations located inside the museum.

What are the physical distancing requirements inside the museum?

Where possible please stay one metre apart from other visitors, museum staff and everyone except for the people in your group during Traffic Light Orange.

When should I stay home?

If you are feeling unwell, have visited a place of interest, are waiting on test results, are a close contact of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 please stay home and call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Have your opening hours changed under Traffic Light Orange?

Our opening hours are 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week. Torpedo Bay Café’s opening hours are 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 8am – 5pm at weekends.

Are all areas and services provided by the Navy Museum open during Traffic Light Orange?

All areas within the main museum are open and available to visitors.

How is the Navy Museum keeping visitors safe?

Cleaning of the Navy Museum’s galleries and bathrooms has increased, and high touch surfaces are cleaned regularly throughout the day.

Hand-sanitiser stations are available throughout the museum.

Health and safety messages are displayed throughout the museum.

Our Front of House, Café, cleaning and other public facing teams are all wearing face masks, which are also mandatory for visitors and the public.

Is the Navy Museum accepting cash payments in the store?

Yes, electronic and cash payments will be accepted.

Can I book a tour?

During Traffic Light Orange tours are not available. If you would like to book a tour for later in 2022, please email your request to info@navymuseum.co.nz
