Our opening hours are Monday to Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Torpedo Bay Café’s opening hours are 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 9am – 5pm at weekends.
We are delighted to welcome visitors to the Navy Museum. To keep you, our visitors, and our staff safe, and ensure you have an enjoyable experience at the museum, we are following government regulations, New Zealand Defence Force guidance and museum protocols.
We ask that all visitors are well when they visit the museum. If you are feeling unwell, please reschedule your visit.
Following guidance from the New Zealand Defence Force, to enter the museum you are required to sign-in with your My Vaccine Pass and contact trace using the QR code, or our paper register. We are also asking all visitors to please wear a face covering and keep 1 metre from others whilst in the museum.
During your visit, please be respectful to our staff and other people inside the museum and follow our conditions of entry.
The Covid-19 terms may be amended based on government directions and New Zealand Defence Force guidelines.

COVID-19 TRAFFIC LIGHT RED FAQs
What are the additional COVID-19 conditions of entry?
At the Navy Museum, the health and safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority. To keep everyone safe, we have some mandatory conditions of entry during Alert Level Red. Please note these conditions may be amended on directions from the government and or the New Zealand Defence Force.
My Vaccine Pass
All staff and visitors to the museum are required to scan in with their My Vaccine Pass.
Contact Tracing sign in
All visitors are required to contact trace on arrival to the museum using the COVID-19 Tracer App or sign in manually.
All visitors and staff are required to wear a face covering whilst inside the Navy Museum.
Please sanitise your hands on arrival at the sanitiser station located at our entrance or use one of the other hand sanitisers inside the museum.
Maintain Physical Distancing
Please stay one metre apart from other visitors, museum staff and everyone except for the people in your group.
If you are feeling unwell, have visited a place of interest, are waiting on test results, are a close contact of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 please stay at home and call Healthline on 0800 611 116.
Be respectful to our staff and other people inside the museum and follow our conditions of entry.
Will proof of vaccine status be required to enter the museum?
Yes, visitors will need to have their My Vaccine Pass scanned either via their phone or a printed copy before entering the museum.
Do I need to contact trace?
Yes, all visitors are required to scan their COVID-19 Tracer App or complete our manual register inside the museum.
If I don't have a My Vaccine Pass can I visit the museum?
No sorry, following New Zealand Defence Force guidance, only visitors who produce a valid My Vaccine Pass will be able to enter the museum.
Will I need to wear a mask in the museum?
Yes, all visitors and staff are required to wear a face covering while at the Navy Museum.
Where can I find hand sanitiser?
You can sanitise your hands at the entrance to the museum or at one of the four other sanitiser stations located inside the museum.
What are the physical distancing requirements inside the museum?
Please stay one metre apart from other visitors, museum staff and everyone except for the people in your group during Traffic Light Red.
When should I stay home?
If you are feeling unwell, have visited a place of interest, are waiting on test results, are a close contact of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 please stay home and call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Our opening hours are 10am – 5pm, 7 days a week. Torpedo Bay Café’s opening hours are 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday and 8am – 5pm at weekends.
Are all areas and services provided by the Navy Museum open during Traffic Light Red?
All areas within the main museum are open and available to visitors. The Boat Shed is closed to visitors during Traffic Light Red.
How is the Navy Museum keeping visitors safe?
Cleaning of the Navy Museum’s galleries and bathrooms has increased, and high touch surfaces are cleaned regularly throughout the day.
Hand-sanitiser stations are available throughout the museum.
Health and safety messages are displayed throughout the museum.
Signs encouraging one metre physical distancing in the museum are prominently displayed.
Our Front of House, Café, cleaning and other public facing teams are all wearing face masks, which are also mandatory for visitors and the public.
All visitors and staff to the museum at Alert Level Red are required to produce a valid My Vaccine Pass.
Is the Navy Museum accepting cash payments in the store?
Yes, electronic and cash payments will be accepted.
Can I book a tour?
During Traffic Light Red tours are not available. If you would like to book a tour for later in 2022, please email your request to firstname.lastname@example.org
