Acting Flight Commander George Hartgill (Compiler)
1915 – 1917
Hartgill served in France during the First World War with the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Within his album are photographs of camp life, military aircraft, groups of servicemen, and images of a personal trip to England in 1917. Hartgill went on to serve in the Second World War with the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

At the peak of its power, it was described as “the empire on which the sun never sets”, as the sun was always shining on at least one of its territories.[4]
