Hand-coloured framed photo of King Edward VII, his son, and grandson.

Photograph – Three Kings of England

Hand-coloured framed photograph of King Edward VII (seated), his son, who was to be King George V, and his grandson who became King Edward VIII. All men are dressed in naval uniform and appear to be on a unknown ship. Edward VII died in 1910 so this dates the photograph to the very early 20th century as Edward VIII, who was born in 1894, appears to be 10-12 years old. The photograph frame is gold with blue mount, upon which is written: ‘3 Kings of England of the 20th Century. George V – Edward VII – Edward VIII’. Note that there were actually four kings in the 20th century as Edward VIII abdicated in favour of his brother (George VI) in 1936.
