Large framed original photograph of William Sanders VC taken between his first and second actions. This photograph is believed to have been taken between June 12-27 1917, at the Milford Avon Naval Base in Wales, where Sanders was based at the time. Sanders is pictured with a cane and is hiding his left hand under his right. This is due to an injury he suffered on HMS Prize on 12 June, 1917 during an engagement with a German U-Boat. The photograph frame is not original, and was reframed in April 15, 2011 by Waiheke Picture Framers.
