Captain Halsey Cup

Cup

Silver cup on plinth. The Captain Halsey Cup was awarded for frigate inter-ship soccer competitions. Lionel Halsey was Captain of HMS New Zealand and commanded the ship in the Battle of Heligoland Bight and Dogger Bank during World War One.

Green fine china cup with painting of three battleships. Words around the inside of the rim read: ‘Britain shall Triumph, her ships plough the sea, her standard be justice, her watchword be free’. Green fine china saucer with gold rim and Officers cap badge painted in the centre. This cup and saucer is part of the ‘Paragon Patriotic’ series produced during World War Two.
