Cocked Hat Box

The cocked hat worn by Royal Naval Officers with their ceremonial uniform was commonly referred to as ‘fore and aft’ hat. During the 1700s the hat was worn parallel to the shoulders, but in the 1800s was modified to be worn with points to the front and back.

Wearing of the cocked hat was discontinued on 12 October, 1940. This is a box used to store the cocked hat.
